The land was annexed to the city as early as 1910 but development didn’t begin in earnest until around 1957 when the community was formally established. Set at the south end of Nose Hill Park, and the north end of Confederation Park, there is always plenty to do in Cambrian Heights. Because of the neighborhood’s naturally elevated position, much of the real estate features excellent views of the Rocky Mountains to the west and the City Center to the south.

Though Cambrian Heights is a safe, quiet suburban community tucked away in the heart of the Northwest, it is still easily connected to the rest of the city. Not only is there a nearby C-Train LRT station, but 10th Street takes commuters quickly and efficiently to the heart of downtown. This enables residents to enjoy the best of both worlds: the best of a comfortable suburban setting in the evening, and the heart of all the economic opportunity during the day.

Since 1957, the community has had strong representation in the form of its community association. Because much of the area was still developing, and continues to undergo development to this day, the community required advocacy to prevent the city from placing disruptive developments near the residential areas. It’s because of the efforts of this community that Cambrian Heights remains one of the most tranquil residential zones in the Northwest.

This community is excellent for those who are raising a young family, or who have children in grades K-6. The local Cambrian Heights Elementary School has a superb reputation for providing an exciting and dynamic learning environment for the young students. The school is a strong proponent of literacy and catering to each individual’s unique learning style.

There is always plenty of recreational outlets available for those who desire an athletic lifestyle. Not only is there all of Nose Hill Park to walk or bike through (11 sq km), there is also Confederation Park and numerous other parks and playgrounds. Every summer there are soccer tournaments held near Confederation Park. For those with young children, there are play-parks and playgrounds spread throughout the community.

Many of the homes were originally constructed in the early sixties when the community was founded, but a large selection have been re-developed and there are even new properties going up in the community providing great views of the city and modern designs.
